As you know, if you have been reading my blog or take note of space news, the NASA Constellation program has been canceled. This was the only vehicle in the path to replace the Shuttle when it is retired this year. I know this sounds dramatic, but I don’t think it is much of a stretch to say that killing this program will mean the death of the American human space program. If you care at all about this you can go to http://www.goboldlynasa.org/ where you can generate and send an automated letter to Congress that shows your support for NASA’s human space exploration.
I understand some of the issues people had with Constellation, but to kill the entire program without preserving some aspects (Orion, new spacesuits, heavy launcher) is a huge mistake. Unfortunately, I think Obama has some very poor advisers pushing their own agendas right now. He has better things to do right now then initiate this battle.
